Alba Lux. Quality Assurance

At Alba Lux Biomed, the key factors to quality assurance are Specialization, Method and Tools.

Specialization:

We only work in the pharmaceutical, medical, medical device, and biotechnology fields.
Our translators are physicians, biologists,  pharmacists or veterinians working in their own language in fields that they understand well. They have read the literature, participated in clinical trials, evaluated the products, and used the techniques, analyses and instruments as part of their professional training and practice.

Methodology:

Every project has at least:

One manager

One translator

One reviewer

These professionals are matched to your project according to their particular skills and experience.

We first perform a text analysis to identify specific words and expressions and to include client glossaries, translation memories and background material.

Terms are checked against our extensive memories and lexeme lists are developed. If a new term appears, we document in writing how it could be translated, based on authorized sources. Results are posted and openly discussed in our intranet.

Glossaries, term searches, exchanges between translators and reviewers, and the original and the reviewed translations are archived.

All materials are made available to our customers.

Confidential materials are handled on a strict need-to-know basis.

Layout is handled by specifically trained personel, and kept well separated from translation.

When necessary, a final review is performed on the post-edited text, to double check layout and meaning interactions.

Tools:

At Alba Lux Biomed, we use a judicious combination of human and computer-assisted translation. Translation is an eminently human task, since no one but a skilled bilingual writer can better capture the meaning of the original and transmit it to the target language with the most appropriate cultural nuance and proper register for the audience. However, computer tools like translation memory, machine translation, and glossary databases are essential for maximizing consistency and repeatability on large documentation projects.

Our translators and post-editing personnel are proficient in all major software packages.
